Now! Sporting Dirtdrop Handlebar

After debating (in my head) which dropbar to replace the riser bar on my Schwinn Crosscut. Which one? The Randonneur dropbar (Sakae) or Mountain dirtdrop (WTB)? 

The decision was made when I got in my hand a dirtdrop style quill stem (Rito branded) and Sun Tour Command 7sp shifter. 

Cha..cha..cha.. change!

The problem was how to get the WTB bar into the quill stem, after that the rest was easy. And now it's complete. And now almost all my bikes sporting dropbars, bar my all mountain bike (my '99 Intense Uzzi SL) and it's the only alumunium bike in my stables while the rest of them is steel.

The Sun Tour Command 7sp shifter is compatible with Shimano 400 LX derailleurs with HG 41 cassette and narrow chain. Although I must get used to it, but right now the bike fits me well with this setup.

Not everything is easy and installed instantly, sometimes you have to tinkering about it and to find the solutions about the problem that happen on your bike(s).

But the results worth it more than not.

This is when my now scarce 28,6 top pull fd broke, wasnt easy to find the replacement.

New Cockpit

1992 Schwinn CrossCut ganti kokpit, sekarang memakai riser bar dan bar end yang posisinya dipasang agak ketengah menyerupai posisi hood dari drop bar sebagai alternatif posisi tangan dan keranjang dari stainless steel sebagai asesoris dan penambah utilitas sepeda, cukup untuk membawa barang sehari-hari.

Akhirnya ban OEMnya yaitu Panaracer 38 Special yang ukurannya 700x..38c (doh) menyerah satu karena sidewallnya jebol hingga akhirnya saya ganti semua dengan ban Schwalbe Marathon Supreme ukuran 700x40c.

Shifter diganti memakai thumb shifter Deore yang bisa diset menjadi index maupun friction.

Ban depan memakai dynamo hub Shimano LX yang dihubungkan sementara dengan lampu dinamo Busch + Muller dari Bridgestone MB4.

Mengenai Schwinn CrossCut, type ini merupakan cikal/awal dari sepeda hybrid yg sekarang berkembang lagi menjadi 29ers atau monstercross. Dibuat di Taiwan dengan konstruksi lug menggunakan tubing Lightweight Chro-Mo dari True Temper.
